In 2022 I started for Detron Consultancy, in de 2024 the name was updated to Esprit ICT. As a IT Consultant I will do projects for several companies that manage  public and managed cloud/datacenters. 

KPN OnePlatform (1P) is a Data Center Infra (DCI) department and part of the Private Cloud organization. The department comprises technical and process specialists responsible for critical parts of KPN's infrastructure and systems, including various Private Cloud platforms, Public Cloud services (such as KPN Azure/AWS), Self-Service Portals, provisioning/orchestration, and Managed OS services.

Customers can acquire data center infrastructure within the department, including network, storage, computing (virtual machines), and optionally Managed OS services. The Private Cloud department is responsible for multiple VMware-based cloud platforms within KPN's data centers, catering to managed and unmanaged customers. A key aspect of this responsibility is the OnePlatform team's crucial role in managing and developing the VMware vCloud platform for customers within KPN's data centers.

In my role within the team, I hold a senior position where I not only perform operational tasks but also support and coach my fellow engineers. My responsibilities include:

• Managing the Compute VMware layer (VCF, vSAN, vSphere, hardware, vCenter).
• Administering the SDN NSX-T layer.
• Implementing new services that align with the OnePlatform.
• Executing KPN processes related to security and compliance.
• Contributing to and supporting platform migrations.

Through these tasks, I contribute to further developing and optimizing KPN's infrastructure. Our team's focus is not only on stability but also on innovation, ensuring that KPN's infrastructure remains reliable and at the forefront of technological advancements.

Exact is a Dutch company specializing in business software, focusing on financial and business processes for small and medium-sized enterprises. The company operates in 13 countries, has over 2,000 employees worldwide, and serves over 675,000 businesses. Exact offers solutions such as accounting software, ERP, payroll, and CRM; its data centers are in Delft and Malaysia.

In my role at Exact, I took over the responsibilities of a departing employee, primarily in VMware Aria Automation. Leveraging my expertise in automation and knowledge of VMware vCloud, I handled various tasks, including:

• Executing NAS migration projects.
• Documenting quality control tasks.
• Mapping, planning, and implementing system upgrades and integrations.
• Managing physical hardware and virtual machines across multiple data centers.

Furthermore, I was key in optimizing systems and processes within an Agile/Scrum team, ensuring a structured project approach and efficient task execution in Exact's IT environment. This commitment to efficiency and excellence is a cornerstone of my work at Exact.

For Denit, mainly maintenance of VMware vSphere and vCloud, expansion of server (Dell) and storage (IBM, Tintri, NetApp) capacity. Capacity management for the migration of DutchCloud to the Denit infra and new customers.

In the last month of 2021, Uniserver acquired Denit. My role became that I migrated the Denit infra and documentation to Uniserver and added my vCloud knowledge to Uniserver. For Uniserver, I have written several advanced troubleshooting and upgrade documentation to resolve future compatibility issues.

ICT Engineer, Consultant, and Architect with expertise in VMware & Microsoft. I’ve updated my certifications and gained experience in various organizations.

The intensive growth of my career ran away from my interest; by distancing myself during the sabbatical, I found my new interest with the help of a coach.

I also found out that I had an affinity for "Data and Media Analysis.”

To broaden my knowledge goal, I trained myself (among other things) in Python and Machine Learning (TensorFlow), for example, facial recognition on a live surveillance camera with unsupervised clustering and supervised identification/tracking.

In 2019 I started the course "Private Researcher" (for the yellow pass).

During the sabbatical, I kept up my skills, knowledge, and certifications, such as my VMware VCP certification (now 15 years) and my Microsoft Infra/Cloud MCSE certifications.

Outside of that, I was a family man and had a unique experience because I had much time for our then-newborn son (born in 2015).

As part of Pure Storage HQ in Silicon Valley, I did (sales) engineering in the BeNeLux, translating customer questions and explaining the requirements to the developers in America. I support the local sales department and partners who sell Pure Storage products in the pre-sales role. I also train partners and customers in the use/installation/troubleshooting of the Pure Storage array for their specific solutions.

In my position as Infrastructure Architect, I focused on: Server-Based Computing, VDI, Cloud, and Virtualization. I worked with organizations with growth challenges; I supported the organization in identifying the weakest link and worked out an implementation/transition proposal to solve the problem (structurally) and make the environment predictable. In my role, I have been to several organizations, for example, ABN, ING, Geld Service Nederland, and VtsPN (Odijk).

I got in the “Knowledge Leader Virtualization” role for the whole of CGI Netherlands (training and presentation), supported the internal ICTS business unit with the optimization of the Cloud infrastructure, and made Architecture Solutions and updated existing Solutions.

In this position, I was co-responsible for the design, setup, and maintenance of a scalable VMware vSphere Farm. This vSphere farm was accessible to partners and customers by an InContinuum CloudPortal. In my position, I mainly did Pre-Sales and Consultancy for customers and partners. In my Strategy role, I was responsible for Portfolio Management and Innovation research, so I am closely involved in the Cloud Strategy of Vancis.

I have designed and built a Cloud environment that scaled from <100VMs (2010) to >2000VMs (2013). In addition, I managed a small infrastructure team that maintained the infrastructure. The Cloud environment in 2013 had over 20 partners and more than 200 customers.

As a Consultant, I supervised Together with Sun Microsystems SunRay projects across Europe, from Pre-sales to installation. In collaboration with Sun, we worked on developing the Sun VDI solution.
